EXERCISE BERSAMA LIMA (FPDA Multilateral Exercise)

Exercise Bersama Lima rotates through Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom – the countries of the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA). Forces from the different countries come together to share tactics, techniques, procedures and experiences with each other in this valuable multilateral exercise. Our Army participates in this joint exercise as a great opportunity to further improve inter-military cooperation and capabilities between the five nations, build bonds and strengthen friendships.
EXERCISE SUMAN WARRIOR (FPDA Multilateral Exercise)

Exercise Suman Warrior (XSW) is a mainstay land exercise of the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA) between Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The FPDA provides avenues for the five nations to collectively discuss possible courses of action in the event of external threats or armed attacks. On top of military operations in each of the countries, XSW also features sports, country and cultural sharing briefs, which collectively provides an invaluable platform for professional interaction and knowledge exchange.
Australia
EXERCISE TRIDENT

Overcoming harsh weather and terrain, Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and Australian Defence Force soldiers come together for each iteration of Exercise Trident at Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland, Australia. The tri-service bilateral exercise features ship-to-shore operations involving air and naval assets such as Chinook helicopters from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and the Endurance-class Landing Ship Tank (LST) from the Republic of Singapore Navy.
EXERCISE WALLABY

Exercise Wallaby is the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) largest overseas exercise. Conducted in Australia, it brings together personnel from various formations such as Armour, Guards and Infantry. The integrated drill allows the 3rd Generation SAF to showcase and deploy its full range of capabilities with a number of our vehicles, including the Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tanks and Armoured Fighting Vehicle, with Air-Land integrated live-firing conducted as a feature of the annual exercise.
Brunei/Singapore
EXERCISE MAJU BERSAMA

This annual bilateral exercise with the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) brings together Our Army’s Infantry and their RBLF counterparts. The exercise consists of professional exchanges, company-level urban operations exercises, and brigade-level command post exercises.
EXERCISE RINTIS BERSAMA

Exercise Rintis Bersama is an annual bilateral exercise between Our Army and the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), where iterations alternate between Singapore and Brunei. The exercise sees our Singapore Combat Engineers and their RBLF counterparts participate in field exercises to conduct training on defence battles and the establishing of supply routes. It is a field engineer-centric exercise that aims to foster the sharing of skills and knowledge of both Armies.
China/Singapore
EXERCISE COOPERATION

An exercise held in Guilin, China, Exercise Cooperation sees Our Army’s units training with our People’s Liberation Army counterparts to hone competencies through the conduct of a Field Training Exercise. Over the years, Exercise Cooperation has grown from strength to strength as a meaningful platform for professional exchanges.
Germany
EXERCISE PANZER STRIKE

The Oberlausitz Military Training Area (OMTA) in Germany welcomes soldiers from our Armour formation for the biannual Exercise Panzerstrike. OMTA is a quarter the size of Singapore, which enables a series of live-firing manoeuvres with our Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tanks and Bionix Infantry Fighting Vehicles. Participants get to enhance their skills in gunnery and manoeuvres, training and learning alongside the German Armed Forces.
India
EXERCISE AGNI WARRIOR

Exercise Agni Warrior takes place in Devlali, India, where our Artillery units conduct a Field Artillery Training Evaluation Programme to evaluate the battery’s operational readiness. The exercise also features a combined live-firing by our Singapore Lightweight Howitzer and the Indian Armed Forces’ Artillery unit. This exercise bears testament to the strong and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and India. It facilitates the sharing of knowledge and the establishment of personal friendships with the Indian Armed Forces.
EXERCISE BOLD KURUKSHETRA

Our Armour Formation heads to the rocky plains of the Babina Field Range in Central India for Exercise Bold Kurukshetra. The vast terrain allows for large-scale live-firing manoeuvres by the Armour unit, where our Armour fighting vehicles train with the Indian Army’s Armoured vehicles. As one of our key bilateral engagements with the Indian Army, this exercise underscores the strong and long-standing defence relationship between both countries, and enhances cooperation between the two armies.
Indonesia/Singapore
EXERCISE CHANDRAPURA

Indonesia and Singapore host Exercise Chandrapura’s elite commandos training. Specialists in raids, reconnaissance, and operations against the enemy via air, land and sea, Commandos from the Singapore and Indonesian Armies take on marksmanship, rappelling, urban operations, and airborne jumps. Both countries also cross-train in each other’s weaponry: The Singapore Assault Rifle - 21st Century (SAR 21) and Indonesia’s Pindad Senapan Serbu 2 (SS2). Exercise Chandrapura sharpens the units’ edge, honing their advantage as the tip of an army's spear.
EXERCISE SAFKAR INDOPURA

Exercise Sakfar Indopura is an annual bilateral exercise between Our Army and the Indonesian Army, where iterations alternate between Singapore and Indonesia. The exercise provides opportunities for both armies to enhance interoperability through professional exchanges. The exercise culminates in an integrated mission exercise where soldiers get to operate together to achieve mission success. This partnership is a testament to the long-standing ties between both armies.
Malaysia/Singapore
EXERCISE SEMANGAT BERSATU

Exercise Semangat Bersatu alternates between Singapore and Malaysia every year, where Infantry soldiers from Our Army and the Malaysian Armed Forces jointly plan and execute a combined battalion mission exercise. Soldiers from both armies also get to familiarise themselves with each other’s weaponry, including our Singapore Assault Rifle - 21st Century (SAR 21).
New Zealand
EXERCISE THUNDER WARRIOR

Conducted in the challenging environment of New Zealand’s Waiouru Military Training Area, Exercise Thunder Warrior strengthens the operational readiness of our Artillery soldiers. They get to demonstrate their competence in an integrated battalion live-firing exercise featuring our Self-Propelled Howitzer, Weapon Locating Radar and Field Artillery Meteorological System.
Thailand
EXERCISE COBRA GOLD

The Maintenance and Engineering, Guards, and Army Medical Services formations come together in Thailand for one of the largest multinational exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. Exercise Cobra Gold includes elements such as combined joint exercises, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations training, and more recently – cyber exercises to hone our digital defence prowess. Our soldiers expand on their skills, overcome challenges and form bonds as they accomplish the training missions together.
Thailand/Singapore
EXERCISE KOCHA SINGA

With iterations held in Thailand and Singapore, troops from Our Army and the Royal Thai Army train together and familiarise themselves with each other’s weaponry – including our Singapore Assault Rifle - 21st Century (SAR 21), Ultimax 100 and General-Purpose Machine Gun. The exercise consists of conventional and urban training which culminates in an integrated battalion assault. Exercise Kocha Singa underscores the close and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Thailand and Singapore.
United States
EXERCISE DARING WARRIOR

Exercise Daring Warrior happens in Oklahoma. Joining forces with the U.S. Army, our Artillery gunners harness the tremendous firepower of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) in a combined live-firing exercise to simultaneously engage a distant target. The vast training space in the U.S. also allows our soldier to train realistically to sharpen our operational competencies and enhance our operational readiness.
United States/Singapore
EXERCISE LIGHTNING STRIKE

Exercise Lightning Strike is held in the United States and Singapore on a rotational basis annually. It is an important exercise that sees participants from both armies’ Infantry train together to strengthen interoperability in conventional, urban and motorised operations. The exercise culminates with an integrated battalion assault on conventional and urban objectives.
EXERCISE TIGER BALM

Held annually, Exercise Tiger Balm is the longest-running bilateral exercise between Our Army and the U.S. Army, which sees the integration of a Brigade Command Post Exercise and a Field Training Exercise. Participating are Our Army’s Infantry formation and Combat Engineers’ Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. Vehicles deployed include our Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles and the U.S. Army’s Stryker Infantry Vehicles. Our soldiers train in top-notch facilities such as the Murai Urban Training Facility (MUTF), providing both armies a space to collaborate and share urban operations tactics, techniques and procedures.
EXERCISE VALIANT MARK

Exercise Valiant Mark is held in Singapore and the U.S. The U.S. training grounds provide the perfect environment for large-scale vehicular, mechanised and combined arms manoeuvre training, as well as air-land integrated live-firing exercises in both conventional and urban scenarios. During Exercise Valiant Mark, our soldiers and the U.S. Marines get to share tactics, techniques and the weapons in their arsenal with each other – such as the Man-portable Anti-Tank, Anti-DooR (MATADOR) and Singapore Assault Rifle - 21st Century (SAR 21). They also go through highly realistic, complex live-firing scenarios. Exercise Valiant Mark usually ends off with a combined arms battalion mission, integrated with close air support, involving USMC units along with our Guards, Artillery, Army Deployment Force units and RSAF assets. This annual bilateral exercise between Our Army and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) is an ideal platform for both armies to enhance interoperability and cooperation.
